Today, eleven of America’s top foundations have joined with the National Endowment for the Arts and seven federal agencies to establish ArtPlace (www.artplaceamerica.org), a nationwide initiative to revitalize cities and towns by putting arts at the center of economic development.
Bloomberg Philanthropies, along with The Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and others, is part of this new private-public collaboration that is providing 34 national grants that will invest in arts organization from Honolulu to Miami. Of the 34 grants awarded nationally by ArtPlace, three recipients are located in New York City.
