The Egypt Ministry of Finance won a 2012 MPOWER Award for the category R: Raising tobacco taxes. The Ministry made a significant commitment to advocating for increased tobacco taxes - including a 100% tax on shisha - and cigarette taxes which now represent over 70% of the pack price and have generated over 2.2 billion USD in annual government revenue.
